Tekken x Street Fighter info thread [in progress]
I don't think there was a TxSF subforum yet unless I deleted it by accident. So I'm making this thread for reference when the game is actually released.
http://www.polygon.com/a/life-in-japan/Harada-Summer-Lesson
In 2010, Bandai Namco and Capcom announced a pair of crossover fighting games. Capcom's half of that agreement, Street Fighter X Tekken, shipped in 2012. But Bandai Namco's half, Tekken X Street Fighter, went quiet shortly after the announcement. At this point, due to the silence, news stories tend to pop up whenever Harada mentions the game hasn't been cancelled.
"It's very difficult to talk about," he says. "Obviously, I had originally planned to release it much earlier than we're currently looking at."
He says Bandai Namco delayed the game because other fighting games had saturated the market, not because of development trouble, and that it specifically wanted to put some breathing room between the game and Street Fighter X Tekken to avoid player confusion. He says the game is still in development with around 40 people currently working on it (though some of those split their time with Tekken 7), but he also says that "Tekken 7 will be our big thing for the next while."
Asked if Tekken X Street Fighter will be available in the next two years, Harada says he can't commit to that time frame, but he wants to resurface it in a way that will surprise people. "People have been talking about the game for such a long time that they aren't going to be surprised if you just release it normally," he says. He jokes about announcing it by saying, "Hey, you can play it tomorrow," which Bandai Namco did with the free-to-play game Tekken Revolutionand Harada says worked well in that case.
"I don't know if that's what we have planned, but we do plan to have some kind of surprise," he says.

Just cancel this shit now, it's obviously ain't going to happen.
The fact he keeps regurgitating how the roster and polygons are done shows it's nowhere near close to being a product.

Tbh I'd be ok with that, I don't think many of our SF faves would have been in anyways. They'd probs would have done the original World Warriors + Cammy and Akuma, Four Kings and remaining random picks from Alpha, 3 and 4.
Re: Tekken x Street Fighter info thread [in progress]
It's not not happening, just sounds like it's on hold. Harada has his hands occupied with Ono's dick Tekken 7 FR and will then have console stuff. I'm honestly not expecting anything on TxSF until console T7 has happened...
But real talk, its all a mess. Stop caring about SFV having its time in the limelight, if you're too scared to release against competition just say it. SFV is never gonna stop promoting itself

Sometimes I wonder if Tekken hitting a halt as of late is cause of his obsession with Street Fighter.
This is another one of those times, he sounds utterly ridiculous each time he brings it up.
Re: Tekken x Street Fighter info thread [in progress]
I been trying to think what they're gonna do about this game in the future. I think they said Akuma's popularity/feedback in FR will be the deciding factor of them going through with the game or not.
ANywAys... they waited too long and now idc about the game.

I'll care again if I see my SF faves in Tekken style models and movement.

If Akuma is any indication they might take the easy way out which defeats the point.
Re: Tekken x Street Fighter info thread [in progress]
The way Akuma is done is kinda gross because i was hoping they would at least try make the SF folk a bit more Tekken-esque (tbf, Namco had the harder job with the crossovers) but they somehow seem like they managed to make a SF character have an even smaller moveset???? And idk why there is a SFIV mechanic in there, i hated FADC enough in its own game.

Re: Tekken x Street Fighter info thread [in progress]
They gave him a FADC in Tekken? Ugh. And I agree, I was kinda hoping they would make them a lot more Tekken-like if Akuma is anything to go by. I'm sure he plays a bit differently at least. I agree with what you guys said about NAMCO getting the more difficult job of adjusting the SF characters to the very different Tekken mechanics.
I think as Bosca said, if we saw some development stuff, like models of Chun-Li or quick snippets of gameplay it'd reignite some interest in it, cause seeing that hyper realistic Ryu model all those years ago was hype af, but at this point I've kinda lost interest in the idea since it feels like it's never going to happen and I'm sick of being led along.

If Namco is in control, i'd agree, but not if Team Ninja is. Either would be a fine game mechanically, but TN would do the girls wrong.

If any 3D fighter make it Virtua Fighter. It's on life support and I don't want it to die.

What if it's a composite of both?

I'd rather not let TN have any input on character modelling, thats all am saying. DOA5 is a pretty game, but i want my gals to be more than their bra size

Re: Tekken x Street Fighter info thread [in progress]
I suppose in an ideal world, TN would model their characters while NB would model theirs, and they would just mesh the rest together.
