Hands are the worst. All my drawings start at the top of the head and end at the tiddies.

I actually think it's better to start with the torso/rib-cage, as oppose to starting with the head. So you have the right idea, kinda. mwah

But I personally start with the pelvis. I dunno why, but that always works for me.

90% of my drawings are meant to be portraits so I always start with the face. I still always outline where the shoulders and chest are gonna be and stuff but the face is always where I start when adding detail.

Ya, i legit cant imagine starting a drawing anywhere else than the head. Moving south to the other head shouldn't be much of a swing though, thanks meleenie phone
