Street Fighter V mini tournament?

I was thinking we could have a lil tourney to give us more incentive to play each other online. There's only 4 of us I know willing to play online so far, but even if we could reach 6 people that could work.

If we do just have the 4 of us, we could do a standard style tourney with winners and losers brackets. The games could be a first to 3 set and 5 rounds rather than the standard 3 rounds in SFV tourneys. And since we all mostly own a PS4 we can share our matches as we progress. 

If we get 6, we could start the tourney off with a mini league with 3 players in two groups like Group A and Group B and the winners progress to the knock out stages while the remaining 4 players do elimination matches. Thinking bottom of Group A would face runner up of Group B and so on.. the losers of those games are out and then the winners progress to a losers style bracket. Then, the group winners could face off to get into the Grand Final while the rest of the tourney will run like a standard losers bracket until Grand Finals.

I also feel like character restrictions will be needed, because I feel it adds more identity to the competitors to have only about 2 characters they fight with. But, if you all hate that idea, I won't fight you about it.

I feel like I'm explaining this really poorly, but is anyone interested? If not, I'll just delete. I know these haven't been super successful in the past..but it's fun to try. 

We did a TTT2 one, it was sort of successful, it just fell apart towards to end for reasons I can't remember, but it didn't matter anyway, as Emma was already waiting in the final and we knew that skank wasn't losing. 

SFxT one was a straight up league lol. Maybe leagues are more fun for people?

Ok, I think that means we're all up for it? If so, that means we have 5 (cause Red said he'd join if others did) and I'll assume Alisassy will be up for it.

Btw if you all have a better idea of a fun tourney please say. I was thinking if it was more popular, we could do a full on league with everyone and then have a play-off between the top 2.

We basically play a set of 5 games and for each one you win you get a point. So basically you can get up to 5 points against each opponent, but if you lose say.. 3-2 you still got 2 points. I think this is a good way too, because if one of the better players can be brought down to a lot of 3-2 wins, they may not necessarily be able to top the league. I'll keep updating the table for every game done.

But like I said, if anyone has an even better idea I'm up for it.

So like a first to 5? So is A and B like two different teams? Or is it like whomever wins in group A fights whomever wins in group B?

Naw if we do a full league, then there's no groups. It's literally play 5 games against your opponent and you're playing for points rather than to progress. So if you're already down 3-0 you gotta keep fighting and try and earn the 2 remaining points against that particular opponent. It worked okay in the last one, just Alisassy did get all 5-0 in it, so his win in the league was already won before we even got the last games.

The 2 group thing was just me trying to fit in 6 players, as standard elimination tourneys would be hard to work with 6 over something like 4 or 8 players. If this seems too messy for people, I don't mind doing something else.

I'm not confident in my Karin at all, I found this out the hard way last night.  
So I guess I'll be using Laura and maybe Cammy?

I'm still stuck for who to choose. Will probs go for Cammy but idk if I should have Uglie, Beauty or Laura as my side girl.

@CFW I think Karin is not as good as people make out tbh or maybe it's just our game is weak with her..but yeah I lost all faith in my Karin too. Mika is just a character I click with and she's so fun, so will def be my main.. with Charlie my secondary because he's fun and I feel okayish with him.

Ya i'm up for this. Since we going two chars, FANG and Rashid (for diversity) shall see me through it.

I dunno a better way to make a table so this half arsed self made one will do? Also, if Andy isn't playing do you wanna go 2 games per opponent? Like a home and away tie.
